BetterRead in Guide mode: a line under the sentence you are reading

Words move only while you hold.

How it works

Reading falls apartin four places.

Most reading apps help with one of them. BetterRead is built around all four.

  1. Starting

You open the text, stare at the wall of words, and close it again.

BetterRead opens on what you’re reading: the sentence you stopped on, the time left, and Pick up here.

The Reading now screen: the sentence you stopped on, the time left, and Pick up here
  2. Staying with it

Your eyes keep moving, nothing goes in, and four paragraphs are gone.

Guide moves a line under the sentence you’re on. Your eyes always have somewhere to go.

Guide mode: a line under the sentence being read, in a page of Pride and Prejudice
  3. Coming back

You look away for a moment, and have no idea where you were.

Leave mid-sentence and it steps back to the start of it. After a break: Picking up where you left off, with a short recap.

The Picking up where you left off screen, with a recap and the sentence you stopped on
  4. Remembering

You reach the end, and nothing stayed.

Capture any passage word for word. When you stop, just “You read for 14 minutes.” No streaks, no scores.

Three ways to read

Pages like a book, a line that leads your eyes, or one word at a time.

Mr. Bingley was good-looking and gentlemanlike; he had a pleasant countenance, and easy, unaffected manners. His sisters were fine women, with an air of decided fashion. His brother-in-law, Mr. Hurst, merely looked the gentleman; but his friend Mr. Darcy soon drew the attention of the room by his fine, tall person, handsome features, noble mien, and the report which was in general circulation within five minutes after his entrance, of his having ten thousand a year.
